One of the most renowned FM brands in India, Radio City in its gloriously extensive expanse and outreach has featured and caught up with several eminent personalities from across spheres and walks of work, life, and culture. Recently, 91.1 FM Radio City Pune featured an interview with Pune-based HR-turned-Author Jyoti Jha. In conversation with the radiant, candid, and proficient RJ Teju, author Jyoti Jha shared insights and glimpses from her life and writing journey.

Born and brought up in Bhagalpur, Bihar, Jyoti shared the highlights of her literature-ingrained upbringing, schooling, and childhood life where she imbibed the love for books from her parents who hail from the educational field and are also renowned writers/authors of Hindi and Angika (a regional language in Bihar). A studious, sincere, and reserved child, Jyoti always found interest in books and stories, which continued to build her personality through her growing years and even later stages. Moving to Pune for her graduation and post-graduation years, Jyoti followed the path of becoming an HR Professional before taking a long career break during which she globetrotted with her family and dwelled in the UK and USA for almost a decade. Back in India, the Write India (Times of India) winning title became a life-changing feat for her and propelled her toward a writing career. She considers her writing journey happy, fulfilling, and immensely blessed with constant learning, evolving, and growing. While there are several challenges in the writing profession as an unconventional career choice, there are tremendous rewards too that make life gratifying and worthwhile, she said. Seeing a writer’s life from an outsider’s perspective and getting to explore it from an insider’s viewpoint, she has come a long way with twelve books to her credit (authored, edited, translated, and contributed), several steps, and a few milestones. She contributes to both Hindi and English literature and her books explore the realms of Women Empowerment, Human Emotions, Travel Experiences, Lifestyle, and Social Subjects. Her Hindi novella ‘Aanandi’ has created a mark and stands out as her masterpiece. ‘Heart’s Sanctuary & Other Stories’, and ‘Around The World Through My Lens’ are her English titles that have been widely appreciated. Her translated works, Hindi Sahitya Akademi winner Dr. Avinash Biniwale’s ‘Iran-Paarsiyon Ka Teerthkshetra’ (Marathi to Hindi) and Dr. Shivchandra Jha’s ‘Chaubatiya’ (Angika to Hindi) are remarkable. Her upcoming book ‘Beyond Spectrum’ explores the sensitive topic of Autism Spectrum Disorder and the book is under publication process with Vishwakarma Publications. Jyoti feels blessed to have tremendous support from her family, well-wishers, writing community, and market experts, who have been her pillar of strength through the author’s journey and writing path.

For the youth and generations to come, Jyoti shared her message, ‘Be mindful of what we consume and create as content because we are a part of generating modern source of history and we should feel responsible towards what we choose to leave behind’. The newer generations are more aware and smarter, they should not remain confined to their individual goals in life, but also contribute some time to the society and planet once they find stability in life. And all along the process, people should continue to inculcate the habit of reading a lot and writing a lot, because ‘Reading is enriching, Writing is liberating’. ‘Punekars, enjoy the festivities ahead and continue to cherish and celebrate the culture and traditions, and keep listening to 91.1 FM Radio City’, she said.
