Renowned Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have made a significant gesture by gifting their expansive Pratiksha bungalow, nestled in Mumbai's prestigious Juhu area, to their daughter, Shweta Nanda.
The official transfer of ownership was formalized through two distinct gift deeds, each corresponding to a specific plot on which the luxurious bungalow stands.
On November 8th, the deeds for the bungalow, spanning an impressive 16,840 square feet, were executed and subsequently registered the following day.
Documents accessed through Zapkey.com reveal that the Bachchan family paid a total stamp duty of Rs 50.65 lakh for both gift deeds, with the market value of the property estimated at over Rs 50.63 crore.
Current regulations stipulate a nominal stamp duty of Rs 200, along with a 1% metro cess per deed, for residential properties gifted by a father to their daughter or son in Mumbai.
One of the plots, measuring 9,585 square feet, was jointly owned by Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, while the other, spanning 7,255 square feet, belonged solely to Amitabh.
Despite ET's attempts to reach out to Amitabh Bachchan's team for comment, there has been no response at the time of this publication. The Bachchan family is known for owning multiple properties in Mumbai, including bungalows like Jalsa, Pratiksha, and Janak in the upscale Juhu vicinity.
In a recent investment move, Amitabh Bachchan acquired four offices spanning nearly 8,400 square feet in a commercial project located in Mumbai's Andheri suburb for a sum close to Rs 29 crore.
Notably, various figures from the Bollywood fraternity, such as Shahrukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai, have also made substantial investments in real estate.
Moreover, reports have surfaced regarding high-end property acquisitions by other Bollywood celebrities like Ranveer Singh, Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherjee, Alia Bhatt, Disha Patani, and Janhvi Kapoor in recent quarters.
