Enthusiasm among Lord Ram devotees is reaching new heights as they gear up for the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22, akin to the fervor of Diwali. Adding to the tokens of devotion, Kashi-based craftsman Kunj Bihari, a National Award-Winner, has meticulously crafted a replica of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir using gold, silver, and diamonds over 108 days.
Bihari's masterpiece is a unique Gulabi Meenakari creation, an art form embellishing metal surfaces with mineral substances. This marks the first time a replica of the Ram Temple has been crafted using this indigenous enameling technique.
Taking 108 days to complete, the intricate artwork incorporates gold, 1.5 kilograms of silver, and an uncut diamond adorning the spire. The 2.5 kg replica stands at 12 inches in height, eight inches in width, and 12 inches in length, comprising 108 distinct parts.
Bihari shared that the crafting process, blessed by Lord Ram, saw success after previous attempts faced challenges. The invocation of Lord Ram's name during construction gradually brought the temple replica to life.
Acknowledging the international recognition of Gulabi Meenakari, Bihari credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for showcasing this art globally. Both leaders often present examples of Gulabi Meenakari as gifts to foreign dignitaries, highlighting Varanasi's artisans' exceptional skills.
Expressing his desire, Bihari hopes to present the exquisite replica to the Ram Temple trust, completing the cycle of devotion and craftsmanship.
