In a significant development, Air India Express and AirAsia India, both subsidiaries of Tata-owned Air India, have unveiled a unified, rejuvenated branding under the name "Air India Express." This rebranding was showcased on a new Boeing B737-8 aircraft during a ceremony held at Mumbai Airport.
The introduction of the new brand identity, logo, and aircraft livery took place on the inaugural Boeing 737-8 aircraft and was revealed by Air India Express's Chairperson, Campbell Wilson, and Managing Director, Aloke Singh.
Campbell Wilson highlighted the significance of this transformation, which coincides with the final stages of the merger between Air India Express and AirAsia India. The objective is to revamp the aviation landscape and elevate Air India Express as an integral part of the new Air India Group. This renewed entity is dedicated to offering the best value, accessibility, domestic and regional connectivity to every Indian, with a vision of becoming the airline of the new generation. The overarching aim is to enhance the connectivity of India and its citizens, both domestically and globally.
The airline's new visual identity boasts a dynamic and premium color palette, with Express Orange and Express Turquoise as primary colors, complemented by Express Tangerine and Express Ice Blue as secondary shades. The dominant Express Orange signifies the brand's core values of enthusiasm and agility while representing quintessential Indian warmth. Express Turquoise embodies a contemporary premium sensibility, style, and a digital-first approach.
Aloke Singh, the Managing Director of Air India Express, emphasized the plans for the integrated Air India Express-AirAsia India entity to operate under the "Air India Express" banner. This transformation includes a modern, rejuvenated branding, positioning the airline as "New India's Smart Connector." The rebranding marks the beginning of an ambitious growth and transformation journey, commencing with the induction of the modern, fuel-efficient Boeing B737-8 aircraft.
Singh also revealed future expansion plans, including the addition of 50 new aircraft to the fleet over the next 15 months, effectively doubling its size in a short period. Over the next five years, they aim to expand the fleet to approximately 170 narrow-body aircraft, covering domestic India and short-haul international markets. The aircraft livery will continue to feature a variable tailfin design inspired by India's rich arts and crafts heritage, themed as 'The Patterns of India.'
In addition to the branding, Air India Express introduced a new signature sonic identity—a vibrant melody that captures the spirit of a progressive New India filled with aspirations, optimism, and confidence. This musical logo embodies the Rasas of Karuna, Adbutha, and Veera, offering a harmonious welcome to the sounds of New India. This comprehensive rebranding marks an exciting new chapter in Air India Express's journey, reflecting its commitment to excellence and growth.
