The most renowned and prestigious literary magazine of Hindi literature, Hans, is all set for its annual event, Hans Sahityotsav - 2024. This literary festival, taking place on November 15th and 16th, will feature prominent writers, poets, thinkers, filmmakers, cinema critics, and artists from across the country. The event will be held at Bikaner House, Pandara Road, New Delhi, starting at 12 PM. Over two days, six sessions will explore various topics focusing on Hindi Literature: Stagnation and Change.
At the inauguration of this year's festival, renowned senior writer Usha Priyamvada will grace the occasion with her blessings, a rare opportunity to hear from her. The literary world’s senior writers will gather for this special event. Hans magazine editor Sanjay Sahay will deliver the welcome address, while the magazine's Managing Director, Rachna Yadav, will express gratitude.
On the first day, the first session titled, ‘Post-19th Century Hindi Literature: How Much Stagnation, How Much Change’, will feature discussions by novelist and editor Vibhuti Narayan Rai, critic Vinod Tiwari, and writer and teacher Sanjeev Kumar. The session will be moderated by critic Vaibhav Singh. The second session will focus on ‘Modern Hindi Literature: Influential Ideologies and Philosophies’, with speakers such as renowned poet Ashok Vajpeyi, literary and cultural theorist Sudhish Pachauri, writer and thinker Gopal Pradhan, and feminist thinker Garima Srivastava. The session will be moderated by critic Pallav. In the third session, titled ‘The Blind Alley of Consumerism and Hindi Literature’, senior writer Mridula Garg, cinema scholar and novelist Saty Vyas, fiction writer and writer Devendra Chaubey, and publisher Ravi Singh will share their insights. The session will be moderated by young writer Fahim Ahmad.
Following these three sessions, a play dedicated to the late renowned writer Mannu Bhandari will be staged on the occasion of her death anniversary. Titled ‘Mannu Ki Betiyan’, the play is directed by noted theatre director Devendra Raj Ankur and written by journalist and fiction writer Priyadarshan.
On the second day of Hans Sahityotsav, the first event will be the Book Launch and discussion of the play; Mannu Ki Betiyan, published by Rajkamal Prakashan and now available for readers. The launch and discussion will feature prominent theatre director Kirti Jain, director Devendra Raj Ankur, journalist and author Priyadarshan, and publisher Ashok Maheshwari. The discussion will be moderated by writer Pragya Rohini.
The first session of the second day will focus on ‘OTT: Possibilities and Challenges’, with discussions from author and cinema expert Vibhavari, senior journalist and cinema critic Om Thanvi, filmmaker Avinash Das, screenwriter Umashankar Singh, and film critic Shubhra Gupta. In the second session of the day, in the session titled ‘OTT and the Verbal abuses: Demand for Story or Masala?’, well-known host Irfan, acclaimed writer Uday Prakash, famous scriptwriter and actor Tigmanshu Dhulia, prominent journalist Dibang, and scriptwriter Vaibhav Vishal will engage in a detailed discussion. The third and final session of the day, ‘Social Media or Asocial Media’, will feature senior writers Mamta Kalia, poet and critic Vishnu Nagar, media analyst Vineet Kumar, and poet and editor Avinash Mishra. The session will be moderated by young writer Kinshuk Gupta.
The first day’s program will be hosted by writer Aditya Shukla, while the second day’s sessions will be hosted by scriptwriter Shalini Kapoor. Senior journalist Priyadarshan is serving as the Director of Hans Sahityotsav.
