A boutique management consulting company called Upohan in Pune, working with clients globally in business strategy and HR, has been organizing a programme called ‘Between The Lines’. This is a monthly, free, and open-for-all session where, each month, the organizers identify a book to read and present a summary of that book. Based on the book's topic, they invite dignitaries from the literary fraternity for a panel discussion on the topic. Partnered with Rohit Enterprises, so far, they have organized 113 such sessions successfully.
March being Women’s Month given that 8th March is Women’s Day, the organization set up its in-person 114th session on 28th March 2025 at SNDT (Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University) Pune, inviting three distinguished guests in the women author panel, Dr. Varsha Joshi, Dr. Manjiri Prabhu and Jyoti Jha. The event began with an impactful introduction by Advait Kurlekar, CEO-Upohan, followed by a fantastic book summary of Rashmi Bansal's book 'Who Said She Can't' by Eklavya Malhotra, Engagement Manager-Upohan. The book summary laid the foundation for an interesting, fun quiz with enthusiastic participation from the audience. The event further moved to its highlight, the panel discussion themed around celebrating women’s day with the three panellists including- Dr Varsha Joshi – Celebrated Author of more than 40 books, Senior academic and former Head of the Physics Department, Nowrosjee Wadia College; Dr Manjiri Prabhu – Author of 24 bestsellers, TV Producer & Filmmaker, and Founder & Festival Director, Pune International Literary Festival; Jyoti Jha- an HR professional turned Award-winning Multi-lingual Author, Columnist, TEDx speaker, Chief Coordinator of the Literary Chapter of Let’s Inspire Bihar, most known for her Hindi novella Aanandi and currently writing a book on Autism.
The panelists shared their writing path, personal experiences, and success stories about how and when they started their writing journey, a genre they selected, the golden hour for their writing and the writer's block and what measures they took to overcome that, if at all it happens, the importance of editing and role of publishers, the commercial side of writing, challenges as a women writer and many more issues. The engaged audience also asked a bunch of questions to the panelists to understand their journey better.
The program was supported by Rohan Builders and National HRD Network, Pune Chapter, graciously hosted by Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University (SNDT), Pune. Beautiful gift hampers were presented to the distinguished guests by ‘A Fragrance Story’ and ‘DoubleTree by Hilton Pune – Chinchwad’. Mr. Rohit Jerajani of Express Book Service put up the books for sale at the venue, which saw an amazing engagement and response by the audience. Pune’s Heritage Bookstore, running for more than seven decades, Express Book Service has won the ‘Best Bookstore 2025 Award at the recently concluded 7th IRO Literary Festival held in Hyderabad.
