India's capital, New Delhi, played host to the inaugural National Creators Award event on Friday, March 8th. At the Bharat Mandapam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conferred awards upon numerous social media creators who have left a positive mark through their innovative content spanning diverse fields such as education, history, and travel.
Over 200 creators, including prominent figures like Katrina Kaif, Sadhguru, Komal Pandey, Ranvir Shorey, and Yash, were nominated across 20 categories, ranging from The Best Storyteller Award to New India Champion and Favourite Travel Creator.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi personally presented awards to 23 winners, engaging in delightful interactions with these young luminaries. Noteworthy recipients included Aman Gupta, known for his appearance on Shark Tank India, Kamiya Jani, Maithili Thakur, and Ranveer Allahbadia, all recognized for their exceptional contributions.
PM Modi's Memorable Interaction with Maithili Thakur
One of the highlights from the event was Prime Minister Modi's engaging exchange with influencers, particularly captured in a viral video featuring young singer Maithili Thakur. Hailing from Bihar and renowned for her folk ballads and classical renditions, Thakur was honored with the Cultural Ambassador of The Year award.
Following the presentation of the trophy, PM Modi playfully requested Thakur to grace the audience with a few verses of her song. In a moment that resonated across the internet, the Prime Minister, in his characteristic humor, quipped, "Why don't you sing a little? They are tired of listening to me." To which Thakur graciously responded, "Of course, sir."
Amidst laughter, PM Modi added, "Oh, you agree that people are tired of listening to me?"
