Renowned filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi, known for directing the popular Dhoom series, passed away at his Mumbai residence on Sunday. His daughter, Sanjina Gadhvi, confirmed the news to PTI, revealing that he was 56 and just days away from turning 57. Gadhvi directed the blockbuster film Dhoom in 2004, starring Hrithik Roshan, as well as its sequel, Dhoom 2, in 2006. The Bollywood community, including Yash Raj Films (YRF), Abhishek Bachchan, and Bipasha Basu, has expressed condolences and shared memories on social media.

Sanjina informed PTI, "He passed away at 9.30 am this morning at his residence. We are not sure what it is, but it is most likely a heart attack. He wasn't unwell, he was perfectly healthy." Sanjay Gadhvi is survived by his wife Gina and two daughters.

Abhishek Bachchan, a constant presence in all three Dhoom movies, expressed his shock on Instagram. Sharing a photo taken during the filming of Dhoom 2, he reminisced about their collaboration and praised Gadhvi for giving him his first hit. Bipasha Basu and John Abraham, both associated with the Dhoom series, also shared heartfelt messages, expressing sorrow at Gadhvi's untimely demise.

Dhoom music composer Pritam and actor Celina Jaitly joined the tributes on social media, reflecting on Gadhvi's impact on their lives and careers. YRF posted a picture of Gadhvi on their official social media page, honoring the magic he created on screen.

Sanjay Gadhvi began his directorial journey with the 2000 film Tere Liye and went on to helm several projects under the Yash Raj Films banner. In addition to the Dhoom series, he directed films like Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002), Kidnap (2008), Ajab Gazabb Love (2012), and Operation Parindey (2020). The Bollywood community mourns the loss of a talented filmmaker whose contributions to the industry will be cherished forever.
