After a nine-year hiatus since the release of "Singham Returns," Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn and renowned director Rohit Shetty have come together to kickstart the much-anticipated third installment, "Singham Again." The shooting for this cop drama commenced on Saturday, with the director, lead actor Ajay Devgn, and the talented Ranveer Singh, who reprises his role as Simmba in Rohit Shetty's cop universe, present for the auspicious occasion.
Ajay Devgn took to his Instagram account on Saturday to share two snapshots from the mahurat ceremony of "Singham Again." The first photograph captures the moment when Ajay and Ranveer united hands while director Rohit Shetty cracked a coconut on the floor as part of a traditional ritual. Ajay sported a dark blue shirt, paired with blue jeans and a brown belt, while Ranveer looked dashing in a light grey shirt, dark grey trousers, and a black belt. Rohit Shetty donned a white T-shirt layered with a dark blue shirt and worn-out denim. In the second picture, all three gentlemen joined hands, donning serious expressions and adorned with red tilaks on their foreheads.
Ajay Devgn penned a heartfelt caption, stating, "Twelve years ago, we introduced Indian Cinema to its most iconic Cop Universe. With the immense love we've received over the years, our force has grown stronger, and the Singham family has expanded. Today, we unite to take our franchise to new heights with 'Singham Again!'"
Rohit Shetty shared the same images on his social media platform, expressing, "Singham, Singham Returns, Simmba, Sooryavanshi... Twelve years ago, when we embarked on the journey of 'Singham,' we never imagined it would evolve into an entire Cop Universe! Today, we embark on the filming of 'Singham Again,' the fifth installment in our cop franchise. ISME HUM APNI JAAN LAGA DENGE! BAS AAPKE PYAAR AUR DUA KI ZAROORAT HAI! Ranveer Singh also shared a picture of himself performing an aarti ceremony in front of the camera and expressed, "All set to reprise one of my most cherished characters from Rohit Shetty's Cop Universe - SIMMBA (cop emoji) in #SinghamAgain! We seek your love and blessings for our new journey (black heart emoji) (namaste emoji)."
Akshay Kumar, who portrays Sooryavanshi in Rohit Shetty's cop universe, was noticeably absent from the initial pictures. However, he clarified his absence by posting the same images on Instagram along with the caption, "Currently not in the country, physically absent from the frame, but fully present in spirit. Can't wait to join you guys on the sets of #SinghamAgain! Sending my best wishes. Jai Mahakaal (namaste emoji)."
Rohit Shetty's cop universe comprises three prominent franchises: Ajay Devgn's Singham (2011), Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi (2021), and Ranveer Singh's Simmba (2018).
