The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Mains 2025, shortlisting 2,736 candidates for the Personality Test (Interview) round. The much-awaited results were released on the Commission’s official website — upsc.gov.in in the form of a roll number–wise PDF list.

The Mains examination was conducted between August 22 and August 31, 2025, across multiple centers in India. Candidates who have successfully cleared this stage will now proceed to the final and most crucial part of the selection process — the Personality Test, to be held at UPSC’s Dholpur House office in New Delhi.

Interview Stage Ahead

According to the official notification, the shortlisted candidates will soon receive their e-summon letters for the interview round through the UPSC website. The Personality Test carries 275 marks and aims to assess the overall personality, mental alertness, judgment, and ethical integrity of candidates — key attributes for a future civil servant.

The Commission has also advised candidates to keep all original documents ready for verification, including educational certificates, age proof, and community or category certificates for OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and PwBD candidates as applicable.

Final Selection Process

The Civil Services Examination is conducted annually in three stages — Preliminary, Main, and Personality Test — to recruit officers for India’s premier services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS) , among others.

This year’s Mains examination witnessed one of the highest participation rates in recent years, reflecting the growing interest in India’s most prestigious competitive exam. As the interview stage approaches, experts suggest that candidates review their Detailed Application Form (DAF) and stay up-to-date with national and international current affairs to perform confidently before the UPSC Board.

What’s Next

The schedule for interviews is expected to be announced shortly, with sessions likely to commence in December 2025 or January 2026. Final results will be declared after the completion of all interviews, based on the combined scores of the Mains and the Personality Test.

For the 2025 cycle, UPSC is expected to fill around 1,056 vacancies across various central government services.
