In its latest iOS 17 update, Apple is making strides toward promoting eco-friendly transportation by integrating real-time electric vehicle (EV) charging information into Apple Maps. This advancement allows EV drivers to conveniently access live charging availability updates while also selecting their preferred charging network.

Initially unveiled at the 2020 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the introduction of EV routing support in Apple Maps has been a gradual process. It first became accessible to Ford Mustang Mach-E users last year, followed by Porsche Taycan drivers earlier in 2023.

With iOS 17 installed on their iPhones, users will be guided to establish their favored EV charging networks. Among the options available are Electrify America, Chargepoint, and Tesla's Supercharger network. Subsequently, Apple Maps will seamlessly display real-time charging data according to the chosen charging network, ensuring users are well-informed about availability.

A notable feature of this update is Apple Maps' intelligent capability to present only those charging options that match the user's specific EV charging port, guaranteeing pertinent and personalized information.

The recent public beta release of iOS 17 introduced various enhancements. Notably, the "personal voice" feature empowers iPhones to generate a custom voice resembling the user's voice in just 15 minutes, adding a distinct touch to personalization. Additional improvements encompass Messages, StandBy mode, Maps, widgets, and dictation. These enhancements comprise the ability to filter Messages search results using different criteria and the convenience of listening to audio messages while engaging with other apps.
