The government is aiming to set up a non-profit company under the Start-Up India program to move forward with its start-up initiative. As a first step towards this, the Minister of Commerce and Industries, Piyush Goyal launched a platform called Bhaskar (Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry) which is an initiative of Start-up India.

“Now Startup India is such a powerful ecosystem within itself that it should have a house of its own. I was thinking the ministry should immediately start a Section 8 company. I have made a decision, and the process has been kick-started,” the honorable minister said at the launch of BHASKAR. The minister also proposed setting up a separate enclave or a township of 250-500 acres that will house a complete ecosystem for start-ups and anyone who needs any guidance or support can find it there.

Talking about Bhaskar, the minister said it is a one-stop digital platform for data dissemination, exchange, and interaction for the entire start-up ecosystem through simple easy-to-use links and easy-to-navigate technology catalyzing the growth and success of the start-up ecosystem across India and beyond.

Any start-up can get registered on the platform, generate profile cards, and get discovered across the start-up ecosystem. Bhaskar will house the ever-evolving start-up ecosystem stakeholders under one single roof, making it the largest digital registry of the start-up ecosystem in the world in the coming times.

So far 1.46 lakh start-ups registered under the Start-up India initiative will be automatically migrated to the new platform.
